On saying such and such is not a Salafi, or does not belong to the Salafees By : Shaykh Saalih bin Fawzaan Al-Fawzaan

Question:

“In recent times again and again the dispute comes up of which one says, “Such and such is not a Salafi” or “does not belong to the Salafees”. Is this expression considered to be Tabdee’ (i.e. a declaration of someone being an innovator)? And is it required to provide the evidence against him?”

Explaining “the one who does not declare the innovator to be an innovator is an innovator” By : Shaykh ‘Abdul-Muhsin bin Hamad al-‘Abbaad

Question:

“He says: “Oh our Shaykh, you mentioned yesterday that the one who does not declare the innovator to be innovator, is not to be put together with him (that innovator), and that it is not binding upon him to agree with he whom declares him (that innovator) to be an innovator. However, some people of knowledge mentioned that the one who does not declare the innovator to be an innovator is to be put together with him. So is therefore the difference in this issue only a semantic (a verbal) one?”

They say, “He is a Hizbee (a partisan who calls to partisanship), he is Mutamayyi’ (someone who is weak in his creedal stance) and he is such and such.” In fact, they have let themselves get into the intentions of many people, by saying, “His intention is this and that.” So what is your advice to these young people?”

Allah has not commissioned you with labeling people as innovators and forcing others to do this! By : Shaykh Saalih bin Fawzaan Al-Fawzaan, (May Allah preserve him)

Question:

“The questioner says: A huge problem for us or for many of the youth nowadays is the issue of declaring certain individuals to be innovators (tabdee’), wherein the people and the youth have split into two groups. One group accepts the tabdee’ of a scholar when it is issued and imposes it on others because this falls under accepting the narration of the trustworthy one. And the other group says that the issue of tabdee’ is from the matters of ijtihaad (juristic effort to infer expert legal rulings). So based upon this, whosoever is capable should look into this and then take that which his ijtihaad shows him. This matter has become really difficult upon us -may Allah protect you- so what is your advice to us?”
